Touhula-päiväkotien yhteistoimintaneuvottelut ovat päättyneet

Touhula-päiväkodit jätti yrityssaneeraushakemuksen 14.5. ja hyväksyttiin saneeraukseen 15.5. Toimenpiteellä pyritään tervehdyttämään Touhulan talous ja varmistamaan toiminnan jatkuvuus. Yrityksen taloudellinen tilanne edellyttää, että Touhula tarkastelee jokaisen päiväkotinsa tilannetta ja mahdollisuuksia riittävään lapsimäärään, kunnan maksamaa palvelutuotannon hintatasoa ja tekee tarvittavia toimenpiteitä toiminnan tervehdyttämiseksi.

Tilannearvion tuloksena Touhula aloitti yt-neuvottelut 1.6. Neuvottelujen piirissä oli yhteensä 420 henkilöä aluehallinnosta ja yhteensä 43 päiväkodista.

Neuvottelut päättyivät 15.6.2020. Neuvottelujen lopputuloksena Touhulan toiminta päättyy 43 päiväkodissa. Tarkka irtisanottavien määrä selviää työntekijöiden uudelleen sijoitteluiden jälkeen.

”Neuvottelujen lopputulos on todella raskas ja olemme syvästi pahoillamme, että niin moni hyvä työntekijä ei enää jatka Touhulassa ja useita päiväkoteja joudutaan sulkemaan. Tämä on vaikea päivä yhtiömme historiassa. Toimintaedellytysten turvaamiseksi meidän on kuitenkin valitettavasti välttämätöntä tehdä laajoja muutoksia, jotta Touhulan tulevaisuus saadaan turvattua”, toteaa toimitusjohtaja Minna Elomaa.

Suljettavien päiväkotien osalta Touhula on tarkemmin yhteydessä henkilöstöön, vanhempiin, kuntiin ja vuokranantajiin ja ohjeistaa jatkosta. Touhula pyrkii tarjoamaan töitä mahdollisimman monelle työntekijälle jäljelle jäävistä Touhula-päiväkodeista.

Neuvottelujen syynä oli Touhulan vaikea taloudellinen tilanne. Kuntien maksamien palvelusetelien hintataso on pysynyt pääasiassa ennallaan tai noussut selvästi kulutasoa vähemmän viimeisten kahden vuoden ajan. Osassa päiväkodeista ei myöskään ole ollut riittävästi lapsia paikkamääriin nähden, eikä toiminta silloin ole taloudellisesti kestävää. Koronapandemia on tuonut uusia haasteita sekä lisännyt merkittävästi tulevaisuuteen liittyvää epävarmuutta.

Suurin osa Touhulan päiväkodeista on taloudellisesti vakaita, eikä niiden osalta ole suunnitteilla muutoksia. Neuvottelujen ulkopuolelle olikin rajattu yli 140 päiväkotia.

”Näiden ikävien uutisten keskellä on tärkeää myös muistaa, että suuressa osassa päiväkodeistamme arki jatkuu aiempaan tapaan. Laadukas varhaiskasvatus on kaiken toimintamme kivijalka jatkossakin”, sanoo Elomaa.

”Neuvotteluissa haettiin kuntien ja henkilöstön kanssa ratkaisuja tilanteeseen ja ne sujuivat rakentavassa ja ratkaisuhakuisessa hengessä. Valitettavasti tilanne oli niin vaikea, että raskaita päätöksiä oli välttämätöntä tehdä”, Elomaa jatkaa.

Touhula’s co-operation negotiations have ended

Touhula submitted a corporate restructuring application on May 14th, and it was approved on May 15th. The measure aims to stabilize Touhula’s economy and ensure the continuity of operations. The company’s financial situation requires that Touhula review the situation and opportunities for a sufficient number of children in each of its daycare centres, the price level of service production paid by the municipality and take the necessary measures to rehabilitate operations.

As a result of the situation assessment, Touhula started co-operation negotiations on June 1st, 2020. A total of 420 employees from the regional administration and 43 daycare centres were involved in the negotiations.

The co-operation negotiations ended on June 15th, 2020. As a result of the negotiations Touhula’s operations will end in all 43 daycare centres. The exact number of redundancies will become clear after the redeployment of employees.

“The outcome of the negotiations is heavy. We are deeply sorry that so many good employees will no longer continue in Touhula and several daycare centres will have to be closed. This is a difficult day in the history of our company. However, in order to secure the operating conditions, we unfortunately need to make extensive changes in order to secure Touhula’s future”, says CEO Minna Elomaa.

With regard to the daycare centres to be closed, Touhula will be in more detailed contact with the staff, parents, municipalities and landlords and will provide instructions for the future. Touhula strives to offer jobs to as many employees as possible from the remaining daycare centres.

The reason for the negotiations was the difficult economic situation in Touhula. The price level of service vouchers paid by municipalities has remained largely unchanged or has clearly increased below the cost level over the past two years. Also, some daycare centres have not had enough children in relation to the number of places, and the operation at that time is not financially sustainable. The corona pandemic has brought new challenges and significantly increased uncertainty about the future.

Most of Touhula’s daycare centres are financially stable, and no changes are planned for them. More than 140 daycare centres had been excluded from the negotiations.

“In the midst of these unpleasant news, it’s also important to remember that in many of our daycare centres, everyday life continues as before. High-quality early childhood education will continue to be the cornerstone of all our operations”, says Minna Elomaa.

“In the negotiations with the municipalities and the staff, solutions were sought for the situation and they were conducted in a constructive and solution-oriented spirit. Unfortunately, the situation was so difficult that it was necessary to make hard decisions”, Minna Elomaa continues.
